When my husband David was first diagnosed with appendix cancer, one of the hardest parts was how little information there was. It felt like we were trying to navigate something serious and life changing without a clear path or enough answers.
At some point early on, I learned that Audrey Hepburn had also passed away from appendix cancer. That stopped me. Like so many people, I had always admired her, but I had no idea this was part of her story.
Because of my background, LinkedIn is the platform I know best. It is where I go to research, to connect, and to learn. So I started reading everything I could about her son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, and the work he was doing. I found articles, visited his advocacy website, and eventually reached out to him on LinkedIn.
He responded. And from the beginning, he has been kind, generous, and genuinely helpful to me as I tried to understand this disease and what we were facing.
That is why this conversation feels so meaningful to me.
I will be sitting down with Sean for a live event where he will share what it was like to grow up with Audrey as his mother, not as the icon the world knew. He will also talk about his book, Intimate Audrey: An Authorized Biography, and give us a more personal view into her life, her values, and the compassion she carried.
We will also talk about the work he is doing today in appendix cancer advocacy and why raising awareness still matters so much.
There will be a live Q&A at the end, and I hope you will join us.
